‘Will ask Rajasthan govt for time-bound probe if…’: Congress leader amid Pilot-Gehlot tussle

[ad_1]

By Rahul Gautam: The Congress is ready to ask the Rajasthan government for a time-bound enquiry into Sachin Pilot’s allegations of inaction against alleged corruption during the previous Vasundhara Raje government. The party, however, has asked Pilot to first provide pin-pointed details of cases of inaction.

A senior Congress leader told India Today TV that the party is willing to ask for a time-bound probe by the state government if Sachin Pilot provided specific details of people involved in corruption, their tenure, and current status of such cases.

Raising voice against corruption, not anti-party: Pilot

Earlier in the day, Sachin Pilot again raised the issue, saying Congress came to power in the state on the plank of acting tough against alleged corruption that happened during the Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government.

He expressed surprise over the statement of Congress state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, who described his day-long dharna on the same issue against the party’s interests.

Sachin Pilot said, “See, as I said, Rahul Gandhi has raised such an issue on which he is ready to sacrifice anything. If we all speak about BJP’s corruption or I raise the issue of Vasundhara’s corruption and say that action should be taken, then I think that is in favour of our party.”

Congress leaders shouldn’t damage party, Gehlot’ veiled attack on Pilot

In a veiled attack on Sachin Pilot, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said that Congress leaders or workers should not do anything that damages the party. The remark comes after Sachin Pilot opened a new front against the Gehlot government and held a one-day hunger strike demanding action over alleged corruption during BJP rule in the state.

Congress dilemma over Rajasthan persists

For Rajasthan, it appears that Congress has adopted a policy of wait and watch and doesn’t want to take any action in haste. Sources suggest the party has kept the issue on the backseat at least till the crucial Karnataka Assembly election concludes.
