East Bengal was held to a 2-2 draw against Aizawl FC as it made an exit from the Super Cup 2023 at the Manjeri Payyanad Stadium in Kerala on Monday.
Lalchhawnkima scored a brace for Aizawl while Naorem Mahesh Singh and Sumeet Passi found the net for the red-and-gold brigade.
Hyderabad FC and Odisha FC, the other two teams in the group, will be in action in the next match and the winner there will seal a spot in the semifinal. HFC, however, can also make the cut with a draw, since it is ahead on goal difference.
