By Pankaj P. Khelkar: An iron hoarding collapsed on people in Pimpri Chinchwad township in Pune district of Maharashtra, killing five people on Monday, police said. Police said the two people were also injured in the accident when an iron hoarding collapsed on them due to strong winds on a service road.

A senior police official told PTI that some people were standing in a shelter under the iron hoarding due to strong winds. Suddenly, the structure collapsed and came crashing down on them.

The incident happened along the Mumbai-Pune highway in the Ravet Kivale area. Police have recovered five bodies and injured people were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

A search operation was underway to find out if anybody was trapped under the hoarding.
